The Northern California Psychiatric Society (NCPS) is committed to the highest standards of professional, ethical, safe, lawful and culturally sensitive conduct. The NCPS promotes an environment of mutual respect, well-being, cultural diversity and camaraderie at its meetings and events (“NCPS Activities”). NCPS values and benefits from the diverse opinions its members offer on the issues with which the Society and the psychiatric profession are confronted. This Code of Conduct is developed with these objectives and includes but is not limited to respect, compassion, cultural humility for others and the avoidance of aggressive and/or inappropriate behavior toward others.
Individuals participating in NCPS Activities agree to listen respectfully to all views presented, be courteous to others regardless of whether you agree or disagree with the view presented and to exhibit the professionalism expected of psychiatrists. Retaliatory action in response to the reporting of conduct concerns or in response to the efforts made for conflict resolution are prohibited.
If an individual experiences or witnesses misconduct at an NCPS activity and wishes to file a report, please utilize existing procedures as outlined in the APA/NCPS bylaws. For questions regarding APA/NCPS bylaws to utilize existing procedures, please contact the NCPS Executive Director at info@ncps.org. Complaints will be responded to according to APA/NCPS bylaws. The reporting individual is not expected to discuss nor is prohibited from discussing the incident directly with the individual/party of the complaint.
Thank you for working together to maintain and promote a respectful, inclusive and welcoming environment in NCPS!
(This Code is an expression of NCPS's values and commitment to a safe, inclusive, culturally diverse and productive experience for all participants and attendees at its activities.
